There are so many things you can do to your home to pinpoint it into exactly what you desire. Your designs can be new, flashy and trendy or they can be simple, classy and conventional – it’s your choice.

A gorgeous home should come with a gorgeous kitchen (and an efficient one), and even though you may like to add nonconventional attributes to your kitchen, you should also consider these conventional design ideas.

There are four standard kitchen designs and they are:

  • The Peninsula Kitchen

This design creates a single land allowing traffic between two parallel work spaces. One of the workspaces can be along a wall and the other can be along the opposite wall or in an island in the middle of the room. This design is great for using your space wisely, for scalability, for quick and easy division of the kitchen into various work spaces and for rectangular rooms.

  • The U-shaped Kitchen

This kitchen usually has an island in the center of the room and on 3 of the 4 sides of the room; there are shelves, counters, work spaces and more. This ensure that there is abundant space to work and store items. Unfortunately, if you don’t use the island or if the kitchen is scaled too large, then it can be very inefficient.

  • The L-Shaped Kitchen

In this kitchen there are 2 right-angle configured work spaces. The design is like a condensed version of the U-shaped kitchen. They can be adjusted to cater for any length and they’re great if you want to make the most out of the corner space.  However, they don’t accommodate more than one cook very well nor are they efficient when they’re too big.

  • The Galley Kitchen (A.K.A Corridor Kitchens)

The two work spaces in the kitchen are placed on opposite walls. This design is absolutely great for smaller kitchens, but not for more than one cook to work in at once. Also, they can become overcrowded if there are too many people in the kitchen at once.

It’s really about making the best use and arrangement out of the room’s major elements and fixtures. They focus on the aim of creating a safe, easy-to-use, efficient kitchen area for your home.
